AWA Food Support & Community Projects

 

Food Support  Programs:

  • Hope House Babies Home—Milk for 18-20 babies                  Correspondence
  • Kariobangi Cheshire Home for the Aged housing and feeding 35 destitute seniors; feeding an additional 120 destitute elderly persons three times/week including lepers Correspondence
  • Kawangware—Franciscan Sisters of the Heart of Jesus caring for 200 preschool children, and assisting an additional 80 children from outside the school
  • S.J.T. Amka Health Project assisting 315 HIV/AIDS families
  • Pat Dixson receives food packages twice a month to feed 400 people, mainly elderly women Correspondence

Community Projects:

  • RAINBOW SCHOOL IN KIBERA                                                                     Purchased and Installed an Energy Saving Jiko
  • AIC Bethany Crippled Children’s Hospital, Kijabe 
    donated plants & trees for garden, swing, painting & decorating of the treatment room, & garden benches. Pavement to assist mobility of disabled.
  • Beacon of Hope, Ongata Rongai, Aids Family Centre 
    donated playground equipment
  • Consolata Fathers – Familia Ya Ufariji,  home for street boys 
    donated library books & 2 cupboards
  • Emmanuel Boyz Rescue Centre, Karen, home for 40 street boys  8 – 20 years old donated 9 bunk beds, 6 dining tables, 17 mattresses, gas cylinder & supply, 3 water tanks for  
  • Euphrasian Women’s Centre, Nairobi South B
    donated 6 sewing machines  
  • Franciscan Sisters of the Heart of Jesus, Day Centre, Kawangare
    Urgent repairs to centre donated: concrete slab, drainage, septic tank, shade for classroom roof Farm Link Agency School, Ruiru
    Pre-unit for 35 small children & feeding program in community for bigger children
    2 pit latrines, book cupboard, 16 school desks & benches, 3 dining tables
  •   Kariobangi Cheshire Home for the Aged
    Donated pavement to assist mobility of disabled
  • Solid Rock Self Help Group, Mathare North & Kibera, Assisting HIV Aids women donated sewing machines, embroidery machines, overlockers, a spinning wheel & loom 
  • Star Disability Special Home Care & Training Centre, Kasarani, 40 very disabled children aged 3 – 18. Donated washing machine & dryer, desktop (voice, data, fax, line), gym ball & pump  
  • Starehe Girls Centre, Nairobi donated
    Rain water collection system, gutters, tanks, & toilets for 565,200 Ksh
  • Children’s Center – Kawangware – donated tables, benches for the school   
  • Farasi   Lane Primary School – off Lower Kabete Road Nairobi – donated 300 liter energy saving jiko 
  • Rafiki ya Maisha – Eldoret, affiliated with Fawco Paris – donated 6 treadle foot sewing machines  
  • St Francis of Assisi Day Center for small children – Kawangware – donated veranda, cupboards in kitchen and toilets  
  • Good Samaritan Orphans and Destitute Children’s Center – Soweto Slum Kayole – donated 40 liter energy saving jiko

  • Orbit Village Project, Joshua Orbit International – Kayole – Donated 400 liter energy saving jiko Thigio Primary School – Limuru – Two 10,000 liter water tanks and gutters for rain water catchment 

  • Oloserian Academy – Kiserian – Donated 5,000 liter water tank and gutters for rain water catchment  

  • Mitumba Trust Community Action Project – South C Nairobi – 5,000 liter water tank and gutters for rain water catchment and one treadle foot sewing machine

  • Kawaida Care Group – Kiamba – Donated 80 liter energy saving jiko
