American Women's Association of Kenya Charitable Trust (ACT)
The Trust was established in 1996 with the aim of creating a special fund to enhance AWA's future and current benefit to the community. The original funds for the Trust, Ksh. 1,000,000, were raised through the efforts of Nancy D. Brown, twice Past Chairman of the AWA and a member since 1970.
The Trust was created and established under the laws of Kenya. The Trust Deed states that there will be at least two trustees and no more than four at any one time. The purposes of the Trust are to sponsor and/or support projects for which the AWA Community Services are unable to provide, due to their policies.
The Trust favours primarily self-help projects involving women, children, education, promotion of health and the relief of poverty.
Accounts are professionally audited and reported to the Executive Committee of the AWA.
